Educational Segregation is a big problem
This podcast really gave me a new perspective on how segregation and its effects are still prevalent today. As a country we cannot just say that we made segregation illegal so therefore racism is solved. It is not that simple. Many of these school systems are still trying to segregate these poorer lack children. I think it's very interesting that they are segregating these school systems off when education is the best way to get out of a bad environment. If we want to fix racism and inequality in this country, we need to provide everyone with a quality education. This podcast helped understand why it is so hard for poor black Americans to get out of these lower quality neighborhoods. From the poor schools to the violence, it almost seems impossible to do that. I talked much about poor housing and job opportunities for African Americans in my last blog post and much of what happens with them happens with education. I think it's almost comical that education is for kids to lear...
